How to make the preparation for the AFCAT Exam

The AFCAT Exam or Air Force Common Admission Test is conducted twice in year in the month of February and August.

The AFCAT Exam or Air Force Common Admission Test is conducted twice in year in the month of February and August. The exam is conducted for various branches of Air Force. The exam pattern and level of questions asked are easy in comparison to Combined Defence Services (CDS).

First of all, analyse the exam patten: AFCAT exam is for Non-Technical and Technical trade. Those who apply for Non-technical trade they have to appear for only first paper. Those who apply for technical trade, they have to appear for two papers: Paper first which is common and second paper of EKT (Engineering Knowledge Test). Aspirants can check the table given below for detailed exam patten, no of questions, marks and time duration for the test. One this should be kept in mind that the paper comes in English language only.

Strategy for the AFCAT written exam:


·        Check the previous year questions very minutely. The pattern is generally of one liner. So, if you focus on targeted subjects the goal become easier to achieve.

·        Practice, practice and practice. The section in English passage, common errors, Numerical ability and reasoning ability demands practice.


·        Strengthen your weak areas. Once you realise after appearing in the mock tests that you are facing difficulty in Reasoning or Numerical Ability, just focus on those areas, because the merit of AFCAT exam goes high, so if you leave so many questions the chances of your selection will be deemed.


·        Don’t forget he negative marking. Many students only fail to make the cut due to wild guesses and negative marking. So check yourself in committing this mistake.
